We are looking forward to continuing to train up our younger Pope Greyhounds! Registration for our Juniors (6th-8th grade girls) program will open here on Monday, March 27. Our Pope Juniors teams are for students who intend to attend Pope High School. There will be a $150 non-refundable, partial payment of season fees paid with this registration. We will invoice the remaining amount once we have decided on teams.
April 11 at 6pm -- Info Meeting in Greyhound (Old) Theater in Pope school building (not the PAC bldg...look for balloons near the stop sign by the softball field). Come have all your questions answered and allow us to fill in the blanks about the season. You do NOT have to be registered to attend the meeting.
May 7 from 4-6pm -- Initial Tryout in the Old Gym. Based on skills, knowledge of the game, athleticism, attitude, effort, communication and hustle, we will divide the players into two Summer Training Groups. The Pope Summer Training Group will make up our Navy & White teams. The Hounds Summer Training Group will make up our Sky & Grey teams and our Greyhound Training Ground.
5 Mondays or Tuesdays in June & July -- Juniors Open Gyms from 5-6pm during which we will continue to develop and evaluate each player; not required but encouraged
Sat, July 29 from 5-8pm -- Final Pope Summer Training Group evaluation through a mini-tournament; following this we will form the Navy & White teams
Wed, Aug 2 from 6:30-8:30pm -- Final Hounds Summer Training Group evaluation at Pope; following this we will form the Grey and Sky teams as well as the Greyhound Training Ground team
Here's what the commitment to the various teams looks like:
Navy & White Teams -- Three nights each week: practices/games on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm beginning Aug 3 and finishing Sat, Sept 23. Three Saturday playdates: Aug 12, 26 and Sept 23. $475 per player, includes $100 refundable volunteer fee. Players receive two t-shirts and a hoodie.
Sky & Grey Teams -- Three nights each week: practices/games on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm beginning Aug 7 and finishing Sat, Sept 16. Two Saturday playdates: Aug 12 & Sept 16. $400 per player, includes $100 refundable volunteer fee. Players receive two t-shirts and a hoodie.
Greyhound Training Ground -- an incredible opportunity for concentrated skill development to learn the game well led by our Juniors Director LA O'Sullivan. This group will practice on Mondays & Wednesdays at Pope from 6:30-8:00pm beginning Aug 7 and finishing on Sept 13. The season will culminate with an inter-squad scrimmage. $225 per player. Players receive two t-shirts and a hoodie.
